Week 18

Cash Team

My final cash lineup of the season.  Here are my thoughts on building Week 18.

At QB, I was locked on Trevor Lawrence from the start.  We had all the money in the world — playing on a heater with a motivated Trevor Lawrence in an ideal spot against Tennessee’s pass-funneling defense. Lawrence checked in as the best salary-adjusted quarterback on the entire slate by a wide margin, making him an easy priority in lineup construction.

At RB, We were starved for true studs on this slate, and the one elite option with zero playing-time concerns was Bijan Robinson. Atlanta carried a healthy 24-point team total, played indoors, and Bijan’s combination of pass-catching upside and explosive rushing ability remains unmatched.

Even on a normal slate, Robinson would’ve graded out as a very strong play — in this context, he was a cornerstone.

With Burrow back, Brown has put up over 30 DK points in back to back weeks.  Playing a run exposed defence in Cleveland and the Bengals as 7.5 point favorites, I loved the spot for Brown to repeat.

At WR, Marvin Harrison is finally going to miss.  When he is out, Wilson and McBride eat.  The Rams came out and stated they were playing all their starters which made this game a must for me.  The Cardinals would be trailing, allowing Wilson to have a superb matchup to score fantasy points.

St. Brown has been banged up and his status was murky.  The Lions were going to fight to the end, finishing the season against their old OC.  I liked the matchup for Williams and his big play potential.

I needed to save salary and for my third WR, again, I went value hunting.  With several teams resting or missing starters, I was down to Austin Jr, Dotson or Cooper.  Shough has been playing well lately, the game was in a dome and with Olave out, Austin was slated as the WR1.  Of the three options, he offered the best blend of opportunity cost and projection.

At TE, why mess with a winning formula, I went with a double TE lineup again. Chiggy had emerged as a favorite target of Cam Ward in recent weeks, drawing at least six targets in each of the past three games while scoring two touchdowns over that stretch.  With Gunner Helm missing with an injury, this spot was too good to pass on.

Missing several WR's, Loveland was in a spot to eat once again.  Coming off a 10 target game, going over 90 yards and scoring, this was another spot for success.

DST, In the past couple weeks, I have lost a few matches due to the DST position.  I was spending some money this week.  The Vikings are facing a 3rd string QB and after putting up over 10 points in 3 of the last 4 matchups, this was a must for me.

Overall, I am satisfied with my performance this year.  There were only 5 weeks that I never came out ahead.  As noted in my blog, the Hero WR strategy worked for me again this year.  The second key to success was playing double TE's.  This was a bit interesting as I am normally not a fan as I tend to jam in a 3rd RB in the flex.  However, the Hero WR strategy came with higher salaries this year, which in turn had me look at how to build out successful lineups.
