Nothing Is Comfortable: Paying Up for Allen and Puka, and Finding the Money Everywhere Else
Four teams are on bye, the quarterback position is a choice between expensive and ugly, and every running back and receiver in a smash spot costs more than the last. Puka is the lock, Allen is the pay-up, and the rest of the lineup is a series of trade-offs.
Week 6 is a 10-game main slate with Cincinnati, Detroit, Miami and Minnesota on bye, which shrinks the player pool and bunches the good plays into a handful of games. Bills at Raiders carries a 53.5-point total, Rams at Cardinals is 51.5 with the Rams favored by 12.5 and implied for 32 points, and Bears at Falcons is also 51.5. Almost every skill player you want lives in those three games, and the prices reflect it. The salary cap is the only real opponent this week, so the question for every position is the same: where do you pay, and where do you cut?
